font-weight: bold;">Secretaría del Tratado Antártico</span><span style="font-weight: bold;"> </span>congrega a los paises <span class="arial11gris">firmantes del Tratado Antártico, que entró en vigor en 1961, con el</span><span class="arial11gris"> propósito de promover la presencia pacífica, científica y experimental del ser humano en el continente austral. </span>Algunas disposiciones importantes son: <p class="arial11gris"><em> La Antártida se utilizará exclusivamente para fines pacíficos </em> (art. I). </p> <p class="arial11gris"><em> La libertad de investigación científica en la Antártida y la cooperación hacia ese fin […] continuarán</em> (art. II). </p> <p class="arial11gris"><em> Las Partes Contratantes acuerdan proceder […] al intercambio de observaciones de resultados científicos sobre la Antártida, los cuales estarán disponibles libremente</em> (art. III). </p> <p class="arial11gris">El Tratado dispone que “la Antártida se utilizará exclusivamente para fines pacíficos” (art. I). A nivel mundial se planificaron investigaciones y observaciones que convocaron a la realización de proyectos interdisciplinarios, en los cuales el arte jugó un papel más que relevante. <br /> <br />En la muestra <span style="font-style: italic;">Sur Polar</span>, el continente antártico se presenta como un laboratorio abierto, de ideas experimentales y escalas enormes, en campos combinados de la ciencia, el arte y la comunicación, que convoca a la reflexión con respecto al frágil equilibrio medioambiental, desde la vivencia y la exploración sensitiva, sobre un hábitat que todavía escapa al imaginario social. <br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal"> <br />La curadora Andrea Juan reunió a 15 artistas procedentes de Argentina, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Canadá, Estados Unidos, España y Francia, con propuestas que indagan en el continente vírgen, con la pluralidad de los multiformatos. Esa enorme capacidad de convergencia, contención e interpretación; de pura energía de descubrimiento, que suele derivar en un lento desvestido de las lecturas o los gustos tradicionales, que han regido durante siglos, casi siempre de modo totalizante. <br /></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">En el caso de nuestro continente –<i style="">aún no demasiado recorrido</i>- pero que cautiva y caza a quienes desde lejos se han aventurado; obliga a adquirir una postura: el imborrable dibujo de su cruce por los límites del rito y la utopía, el mestizaje, las contradicciones de nuestras sociedades, pueblos y culturas.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Cuando la piel de lo diverso adquiere notoriedad y se plasma en un proyecto de antología visual, que respeta la abundancia de miradas y la existencia en todas ellas de un deseo de testificar; el lugar de los curadores es bastante más sutil y elaborado, al menos si desaparece la densidad del enfoque único, y la búsqueda, aguda como bajo la lluvia, la han debido realizar varios de ellos. De esa experiencia enriquecedora nació: El ojo latino.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Luciano Benetton pensó en una selección de arte latinoamericano que pudiera dar cuenta de ese: <i style="">“nuevo proyecto del mundo y sociedad</i>” que halló vivo durante sus viajes por el continente. <span class="titulo1">No impuso un tema específico ni una técnica o escuela determinada</span>, solo algunas particularidades, que fueron, al tiempo, acertadas, porque constituyeron desafíos para la inventiva. En primer lugar, los 200 artistas que participaron debieron apegarse al formato: <span class="titulo1">un pequeño bastidor de 10 x <st1:metricconverter productid="12 cm" st="on">1</st1:metricconverter></span><span class="titulo1"><st1:metricconverter productid="12 cm" st="on">2 cm</st1:metricconverter>, que además de plantear un reto, dotó a la muestra de una identidad sólida y convergente, cerc</span><span class="titulo1">ana a la idea del mosaico, que sutil con los espacios no jerarquiza ni distorsiona. <br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="titulo1"> <br /></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="titulo1"><o:p> </o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="titulo1">Otro punto interesante constituyó </span>el equipo de 16 curadores regionales (Manuel Basoalto,<span style=""> </span><span style=""> </span>Mariano Malacchini, Alfredo Torres,<span style=""> </span>el escritor Antonio Skármeta, entre otros). Que redactaron en el libro catálogo sus impresiones de una región en la que se están, con cada vez más vigor y sostenimiento, apuntando lojos, manos y bocas, desde todas partes. Nuestra sensibilidad, que es algo más que pluralidad, atrae. Pero también, y no hay que negar, lo hacen la solidez y fortaleza de los proyectos de arte de América Latina. Los siglos de contacto con la plástica, y como remarca Skármeta, con una identidad que estableció ya desde los primeros días del mestizaje, <i style="">imágenes propias del mundo</i>. Además, de una relación creciente y cada vez más exitosa con el mercado, de la maduración de los gestores, curadores e instituciones, hasta el entendimiento de la necesidad de grandes y ambiciosos proyectos de difusión, que nos retraten sin minimizarnos ni distanciarnos. <br /></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">El catálogo, que resultó en una edición de atractiva presencia, de pasta dura y llena de curiosidades, que <span class="titulo1">bajo el sello Skira, una de las más prestigiosas editorial</span><span class="titulo1">es italianas dedicadas al arte y la arquitectura, invade hoy las vidrieras europeas. También se pueden destacar las exposiciones que se realizaron de la selección, que recorrió varios países, y convocó a un público cada vez más i</span><span class="titulo1">nteresado en las propuestas curatoriales, en los juegos de la producción, en el parlamento de la difusión.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="titulo1"> <br /></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span class="titulo1"><o:p> </o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span class="titulo1">Llegué al libro a través de uno de los artistas argentinos que fueron seleccionados en esta propuesta. margin-left: 45pt; margin-right: -24.8pt;"><span style=";font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-size:12;">Las obras que Alberto Morales presenta con el título “Al Sur del Sur – Antártida Argentina” en el Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes Manuel Belgrano, fueron realizadas en relación con las emociones provocadas por una fuerte conmoción estético-psicológica. Durante cuarenta días, Morales experimentó la vida diaria en un continente ajeno al ritmo humano. Vivenció el aislamiento y el silencio, los abruptos cambios climáticos y la irrupción de colores insospechados, plasmando todo en originales obras plásticas y fotográficas realizadas tanto en el lugar, como posteriormente, en la tranquilidad de su estudio.<br />Morales fue invitado por la Dirección Nacional del Antártico (DNA) a instalarse en la Base Jubany para realizar su obra desde allí. Ubicada en la región sudoccidental de la isla 25 de Mayo, archipiélago Shetland del Sur, el nombre recuerda al aviador naval José Jubany, muerto en un accidente en 1948. Dicho lugar es hoy una importante Base Científica Argentina donde los investigadores realizan estudios sobre la zona.<br /><br />Más de doscientos años después de la expedición científica que comandó el Capitán de Fragata Alejandro Malaspina durante la cual el pintor italiano Fernando Brambilla fijara las primeras imágenes marítimas al sur de nuestro continente, Morales viajó desde Ushuaia en el “Buque Oceanográfico ARA Puerto Deseado”, compartiendo desde el arte la mirada científica sobre el continente.<br /><br />A diferencia de los múltiples viajeros que lo visitan y no encuentran palabras para definir su magnificencia, Morales utilizó el lenguaje del arte para captar su naturaleza. El viaje a la Antártida lo encontró en la plenitud de una expresión artístico-reflexiva que le ha permitido aprehender el misterio de sus hielos y la poesía infinita de su entorno. Con muy pocos elementos al alcance de la mano, se valió de una paleta de colores básicos. Apenas el blanco y el negro y una variedad de grises para sugerir la persistente e indefinible neblina, el turquesa aplicado con ricas transparencias tonaliza los hielos antiguos, diferentes azules pigmentan los hielos modernos y unas líneas de anaranjado definen el sol del atardecer que se despide sobre el horizonte. También utilizó las tonalidades tierras y el verde. La aparición de estos colores son la evidencia de cómo el proceso de calentamiento del planeta provocado por el hombre, anuncia el retraimiento de los glaciares. Con el derretimiento de los hielos y a la manera de un espectro, los toques de verde testimonian la aparición de algún tipo de vegetación.<br /><br />Morales no somete su arte a la adopción de posturas ecologistas de denuncia sobre la destrucción del medio ambiente, más bien es un humanista que libera su sensibilidad ante el descubrimiento de estos procesos después de la devastación. Ante la protección que impone el Protocolo de Madrid a todos los visitantes por el cual no pueden sustraer como recuerdo muestras biológicas ni geológicas, nuestro artista realizó unos atípicos collages incorporando arena volcánica después de la utilización científica.<br /><br />Las obras que realiza Morales son las de un artista completo que emplea los más variados recursos técnicos para alcanzar una imagen propia. Así lo testimonian sus anteriores trabajos resueltos dentro de un concepto de integración donde el diseño y el arte confluyen en un justo equilibrio entre contemplación y utilidad.
